The University of Nebraska‐Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications invites applications from professionals and scholars for two tenure-track positions as assistant professors in public relations to start in August 2012. Responsibilities include teaching three face‐to‐face or online undergraduate or graduate PR, advertising, IMC or other classes a semester and providing program development related to demands of a converged media industry. Duties may also include advising undergraduate and graduate students and student clubs; developing an internship program; contributing to student recruitment and serving as a liaison with industry professionals and alumnae.
Position requisition #110557 minimum qualifications: Master’s degree in public relations or related field; ability to teach in innovative, cross-disciplinary professional courses across the curriculum; experience using social media for public relations goals, professional public relations or related field experience; and defined research agenda. Strong ties to professional community; demonstrated teaching ability in a variety of conceptual and skills public relations classes.
Position requisition # 110664 minimum qualifications: Master’s degree in public relations or related field; ability to teach innovative, cross-disciplinary professional courses across the curriculum; experience using reporting skills and public relations knowledge to teach multiplatform communications skills for businesses, governmental agencies or nonprofit organizations. Professional public affairs or related field experience; defined research agenda; grounded in public relations theories and best practices with emphasis in applications and actively engaged in shaping the future of public relations.
Preferred qualifications for both positions include: Ph.D. in public relations or related field; significant professional PR experience; undergraduate and graduate level teaching experience; solidly defined scholarly research agenda with corresponding publication record.
